Background
Horticulture is the science and art associated with the culture, production, preservation and processing of flowers, trees, shrubs, turf grass, vegetables, fruits and nuts. It also includes the proper environmental use and maintenance of plants in the landscape. Thus, horticulture is involved with the production and processing of a significant part of the nation's food supply and provides a major source of the beauty in and around homes, cities, parks, highways, golf courses and other public areas.Today, horticulture requires highly trained and capable people to help meet the food demands of society and to be involved in activities that lead to a better quality of life.
