David R. Porter
Dr. David R. Porter is a native of Tulsa, Okla. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps before starting his college education at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños. After two years at UPLB, he transferred to OSU and received a B.S. degree in agronomy in 1981, and an M.S. degree in agronomy in 1983. He then worked as a Rice Agronomist for Ring Around Products in south Texas prior to attending Texas Tech University, where he received a Ph.D. in agronomy in 1990. Dr. Porter joined OSU as Department Head of Plant and Soil Sciences in 2007 after serving 17 years with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. Dr. Porter was named Interim Associate Dean for Academic Programs beginning July 1, 2011.
