Part-time Employment

Many students work on a part-time basis in OSU offices, laboratories, greenhouses, university farms and other on- and off-campus locations. For students who receive federal work-study through Federal Financial Aid, a job is virtually guaranteed. For students who do not qualify for Federal Work-Study, many students still find employment in their department, on-campus or in the community. Students should inquire about part-time jobs by asking their academic adviser or department head, or check out the part-time job postings located on the OSU HIRE System.

Tips for Finding a Part-time Job
  • Consider your career goals. What type of part-time job will help you get experience related to your career interests?
  • Develop a resume.
  • Speak with your academic adviser. Ask about student job opportunities in your department and/or related to your major. Does your department have a coordinator for student employment?
  • Speak with other faculty in your department and in other departments related to your career goals.
  • Check the part-time job and work-study job listings on the OSU HIRE System at http://www.hireosugrads.com. Login to your HIRE System account using your OKEY email address.
  • Network with other students, faculty and staff. Let them know that you are seeking a part-time job opportunity.
  • Read the Stillwater NewsPress and the Daily O'Collegian.
