AG 1011 Student Academic Mentors (SAMs)

AG 1011 is the freshmen orientation course for students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources that meets during the first eight weeks of each fall semester.  Every freshmen enrolled in CASNR has the opportunity and is required to take this course, and the AG 1011 SAMs assist with the course by serving as mentors and group discussion facilitators to small groups of students enrolled in CASNR Freshmen Orientation.  Through this leaderhip role, these students have the opportunity to assist new students with their transition into OSU and CASNR by answering questions and providing guidance from a student's perspective.  AG 1011 SAMs also assist the instructor with class activities, announcements, group activities and facilty tours.  The AG 1011 SAMs provide an invaluable service to new students and CASNR through their leadership role.

AG 1011 SAMs attend a weekly SAM meeting during the eight-week course duration and coordinate their own class schedules to allow them to regularly attend the AG 1011 course section in which their assigned small group is enrolled.  Upper class students interested in serving as AG 1011 Student Academic Mentors should complete the application linked below and return it to the CASNR Academic Programs Office, 136 Ag Hall on or before the application deadline.
