Rebecca Pace, Class of 2007
Rebecca’s passion for Entomology did not begin her freshman year of college at Oklahoma State University, rather if began as a two-year-old child helping her grandma in the garden. Since then, Rebecca has made insects, arthropods and all the other creepy-crawly things the focal of her studies.
In fact, between studying and research, Rebecca manages to find time to show off her arthropod and tarantula collection as well as teach other children the important of insects. “Insects effect everyone and we interact with insects everyday whether you like it or not,” she said.
Because of this interaction, Rebecca has chosen research as her occupational goal. Since she was 16 years old, Rebecca has dreamed of conducting studies in her own lab. For this reason she is pursuing her PhD at Oklahoma State University.
Rebecca believes by studying the way insects interact with the environment and exploring the problems insects cause, she will be able to uncover information to solve issues in public health, crop production and water quality. According to Rebecca, research is all about fitting tiny bits together to make an impactful difference.
