Ryan Luter, Class of 2003
As an undergraduate intern at Dow AgroSciences’ Range and Pasture Division in Kentucky, Ryan Luter was entrusted with a pick-up load of promotional materials by his boss and told “go get ‘em.”
However, Ryan Luter has always been a go getter; he developed his strong work ethic on his family’s small cow-calf operation, as well as a sound understanding for cost management and financial analysis. For these reasons his choice of degree in Agribusiness was an easy one; after graduating in 2003, Ryan continued his education and obtained a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics in 2005. Since then he has worked his way up to Assistant Vice President of BancFirst in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Ryan said his key to career success is daily consistency. “You can light a fire under your pants, but it’s likely to wear off in a couple of days.” he said. “Instead, I get up every day and start with the same motivation and remain steady.”
On the job site Ryan’s daily duties vary; he acts as a loan officer for the bank which requires the management and development of diverse commercial and consumer loan portfolios; he also aids in the management of checking accounts and customer service. Ryan also claims he deals with a lot of documentation due to the legal nature of his job.
His favorite aspect, however, is aiding young couples in obtaining a loan for their first home he said; as well as teaching parent-child clientele about financially responsibility.
