Clay Daily was named the 2017 CASNR Outstanding Freshman.

Clay Daily, an Oklahoma State University student from Mayville, Michigan, recently was named the Charles and Magda Browning Outstanding Freshman in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Daily was recognized at the annual CASNR Scholarship and Awards banquet March 30, where the college awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and recognized student, faculty and alumni leaders.

Daily is an animal science major with a business option and a 2015 graduate of Mayville High School. He is the son of Greg and Linette Daily.

The Brownings established the Outstanding Freshman award to recognize both the academic excellence and outstanding leadership activity during a student’s freshman year at OSU. It is awarded at the end of a student’s sophomore year for their efforts as a freshman in CASNR.

Daily is involved in several clubs and organizations on campus, including the CASNR Freshman and Transfer Council, Animal Science Leadership Alliance, Block and Bridle, Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlemen’s, and Collegiate Farm Bureau. During his freshman year, he served on the OSU Freshman Representative Council.

"I am extremely grateful and honored to be named as the Charles and Magda Browning Outstanding Freshman, yet this award is a direct reflection of the talented faculty that are devoted to teaching, the insightful students pursuing degrees and College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources,” Daily said. “Being a small town kid from Michigan, I will always appreciate the people and opportunities that Oklahoma State University has presented me and am proud to call Stillwater home."

Daily was an OSU Top Ten Freshmen Man and finalist for Outstanding Greek New Member. Additionally, he has been recognized on the President’s Honor Roll and accepted into the OSU Honors College.

“Freshmen students are encouraged to get involved in CASNR and all across campus. Some students take this advice to heart. Clay is no exception,” said Cynda Clary, CASNR associate dean of academic programs. “In only two short years, Clay has left his mark on this campus and we have confidence he will continue to positively impact OSU as he continues his collegiate career.”

Daily is a part of the OSU McKnight Scholars Leadership Program and maintains a 3.571 GPA all while volunteering his time to numerous community service projects. This includes Greek events, a special needs livestock show, Into the Streets, LifeChurch, Toys for Cowboys and more.

Daily also received the E. Pauline Osborne Agriculture Scholarship and the Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship at the CASNR banquet.
