Scholarship Basics
First-year freshmen and transfer students can take advantage of several scholarship opportunities. Scholarships are awarded based primarily on academic achievement and/or potential, leadership involvement, and community service, and Oklahoma State University scholarships are available at three different levels.
University Level
Regardless of major or area of interest, any student admitted into Oklahoma State University can apply for University-level scholarships. To apply, students must simply complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission/Scholarships (online version of Application for Admission/Scholarships). These awards are administered by the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and specific award information may be found on their OSU Scholarship Information page.
College level
Within Oklahoma State University, there are six different academic colleges grouped by related areas of study. Each of these academic colleges awards scholarships to students; however, students must be majoring or plan to major within a specific college to qualify for these awards. The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) awards a multitude of scholarships to incoming freshman and transfer students. To apply, entering freshmen and transfer students need to designate CASNR and/or an academic major within CASNR when completing the Undergraduate Application for Admission/Scholarships. Transfer students should also complete the CASNR On-line Scholarship Application.
Departmental level
CASNR has nine academic departments and 16 different majors that recognize outstanding prospective students with scholarship awards. While most departments use the Undergraduate Application for Admission/Scholarships and the CASNR On-line Scholarship Application to make awards, each unit is responsible for distributing award information to students. Therefore, students should seek guidance from their specific department about scholarship opportunities and application processes specific to their area of study.
Performance-Based Scholarships
Several campus units, including the theater, music, athletics and judging teams, offer special scholarships/awards or stipends to students. Students interested in competing for these awards should contact the respective unit to learn about available awards and the application and competition processes.
Out-of-State Scholarships
Non-Oklahoma resident undergraduates who are fully admissible to Oklahoma State University in good standing, who intend to enroll with a full-time student status, and who meet the eligibility criteria can qualify for a non-resident incentive tuition waiver scholarship. To apply, students must complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission/Scholarships.
Priority Deadlines
The priority deadline for most OSU freshmen and transfer scholarships is February 1 for students planning to begin their studies at Oklahoma State University during the subsequent fall semester. Prospective freshmen and transfer students may apply after the deadline but have a greater chance of receiving awards if a completed application is filed before the priority deadline.
