Alpha Zeta initiates new members

The Oklahoma State University chapter of Alpha Zeta initiated 38 new members on Nov. 17. The organization is an honorary society for students and industry professionals in the agriculture and natural resources fields.
Two CASNR students named 2016-17 Niblack Research Scholars

The Niblack Research Scholars program at Oklahoma State University has opened the doors of cutting-edge research for undergraduates for 13 years. This year, two undergraduate students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are receiving $8,000 scholarships and the opportunity to conduct supervised research as 2016-17 Niblack Research Scholars.

AFA Animal Institute Applications

Students interested in attending the AFA Animal Institute must apply and be selected for industry sponsorship. Participants are selected based on industry and leadership involvement, career goal and articulation of the benefit of the program to their career development. This opportunity is currently available to full-time students pursuing a 4-year degree with intentions on entering the workforce in an agricultural related profession. Sponsorship includes program registration and materials, lodging, transportation between meeting locations and meals throughout the Institute. Travel to the Institute, including parking and ground transportation is not included.

Each Tuesday, members of the #AgChat community are invited to convene online 8-10 p.m., Eastern for a “streaming” Twitter feed. Chats begin with 15 minutes of networking (please introduce yourself and your interest in agriculture as well as your name, brief job description), followed by questions the community sends to the moderator in advance on the topic of the week. The chat is fast-paced, insightful and, often, colorful. The final 5 minutes is reserved for “pitching.” Participants can plug their blog, site, product or ask for feedback on a business-related idea.

Hospitality Days Career Fair

This unique event is celebrating its 61st year. Our Hotel and Restaurant Administration students plan, organize, and implement the event from the beginning to the closing. Originally the conference was a way to bring alumni of the program back to campus to interact with students. Today, recruiters from local, national and international companies attend Hospitality Days to search for new employees and interns. We look forward to our alumni returning to campus and the opportunity to make new friends in the hospitality industry.
