Minors

In addition to the sixteen majors, there are also twelve minors in CASNR. You can pursue a minor to help develop skills or knowledge in an area relevant to your career interest. Minors can broaden your understanding of your discipline and can help you realize the similarities and differences between various areas of study.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS

Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness 22 hours. AGEC 1114 (or ECON 2103 and 2203); ACCT 2103 (or ACCT 3183 or AGEC 3183). 15 hrs in five upper division (3-hour) AGEC courses, excluding AGEC 3010, 3101, 3183, 3990, 4101, 4990. At least nine hours of upperdivision AGEC courses must be taken at OSU.
Agronomy 24 hours. PLNT 1213, 2013, 3554; Soil 2124, 4234. Minimum of 6 additional hrs from PLNT 3111, 3211, 3221, 3231, 4113, 4123 or RLEM 4613 or SOIL 4213, 4463.
Animal Science 22 hours. ANSI 1124. 18 hrs from ANSI 2253, 3333, 3423, 3433, 3443, 3523, 3543, 3653, 3753, 4023, 4203, 4333, 4423, 4543, 4553, 4613, 4633, 4643, 4803, 4863; FDSC 3033; at least 3 of these credits must be from 4000 level courses.
Biochemistry 20 hours. CHEM 1515, 3053, 3153, BIOC 3653, 3723; 3  additional credits from upper division Biochemistry courses.
Entomology 15 hours. ENTO 2992 and 2991 (or 2091); One course from: ENTO 3044, 3644, 4464, or 4223. 8-9 credits from any other ENTO courses to achieve the 15 minimum credits.
Food Science 20 hours. FDSC 1133. 17 credits from FDSC 2253, 3113, 3154, 3182, 3210, 3333, 3373, 3603, 4333, 4763, 4910; ANSI 3543 (or NSCI 4323);  MCAG 4123. Credits in 3210 or 4910 may be used for this minor only if they involve activities which are approved by the Food Science advisor in advance.
Forestry 22 hours. FOR 1114 or 3343; and 2134. 15 hrs from FOR 1214, 2103, 2113, 3083, 3102, 3103, 3112, 3113, 3213, 3223, 3323, 3363, 4213, 4273, 4323, 4333, 4343, 4353, 4393, 4413.
Horticulture 23 hours. SOIL 2124; BOT 1404; HORT 1013, 3084. minimum of 8 hrs from HORT prefis courses excluding 1003, 2010, 4671, 4990, 5110; at least three of these hours must be at the 3000-level or above.
Leadership Education 20 hours. AGLE 1511, 2303, 3303, 3333, 4101, 4303; Choose 2 from: LEIS 2443, 2473; MGMT 3123, 4213, 4533, PSYC 4213.
Rangeland Ecology and Management 23 hours. BIOL 1114; PLNT 1213 (or BOT 1404); NREM 2013; SOIL 2124. Minimum of 9hrs from: NREM 3083, 3613, 4786, 4793; PLNT 4613.
Soil Science 22 hours. BIOL 1114; CHEM 1215; SOIL 2124. Minimum of 9 hrs from SOIL prefix courses excluding 4210, 4470.

Wildlife Ecology

  26 hours. BIOL 1114, 3034; BOT 1404; NREM 3513, 4513; ZOOL 1604; NREM 4464 or ZOOL 4174.  GPA of 2.0 with no grade below "C".
