About the Scholarships
Each spring, the B.A. Rudolph Foundation accepts applications for three (3) different scholarships to help offset expenses while furthering academic and career goals through an internship. The internship scholarships will be awarded to those women who best embody the mission and values of the Foundation. Graduate and undergraduate scholarships are for those completing a public service internship in Washington, D.C., and the STEM scholarship is for those completing STEM internships nationwide. They will be socially responsible, progressive, and driven women of high academic and moral caliber. Strong applicants will have previous roles in leadership positions and volunteer organizations. The B.A. Rudolph Foundation is committed to the principle of diversity in all areas. In that spirit, we are particularly dedicated to reaching applicants from a broad spectrum of qualified people. Applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, ability and perspectives are encouraged to apply.

Approximately four to five scholars are chosen each year, for each of the three internship scholarships. The final number of accepted scholars will be determined by a number of factors, including the number and caliber of applicants, and the Foundation’s budget for the year.

Expectations for Scholars
Immediately after acceptance, all scholars must complete a Travel and Emergency Contact Form, and submit a short (one paragraph) biography and photo. Events will be scheduled throughout the summer for the scholars, most of which are optional, that require timely RSVPs, which will also be requested soon after acceptance.

At the completion of the summer, scholars must submit 1) a brief reflection on their internship experience in the form of a final project, and 2) a feedback survey on the scholarship, the Foundation, and the events in which they participated. The final project should demonstrate how the goals outlined in the scholar’s application essay were reached and the milestones they met personally and professionally during their internship. Typically, this project is a three- to five-page essay, but other formats (photo essay, blog, PowerPoint) would also be accepted.

Additionally, former scholars are expected to assist in promoting the B.A. Rudolph Foundation (e.g., be available for brief interviews, be willing to send outreach materials to supervisor, employer or alma mater), and will be asked to complete a brief survey approximately once a year to update us on their professional status.
